Good, if a little pricey

The place is old, however the room I was in was freshly painted (you could smell it). The room has all the mod-cons - small TV, double bunk for kids and a queen bed, reverse cycle air-con, ceiling fan, a parking space and access to a small guest-only pool.

I stayed two nights. I was initially given the wrong room key, but an apology later I was quickly moved to the correct room.

On the first night the air-con did not work, but within an hour I discovered without assistance that the mains power to it was switched off (presumably for the re-painting). The toilet worked but had this really annoying quirk that after the cistern had re-filled, it would start to leak into the bowl, making a dribbling noise. This was rectified by tapping the flush button a bit until the dribble stopped. I notified the staff who politely apologised and said they would look at it for the next guest.

Overall a thumbs up, but I did find the rate to be a little pricey compared to comparable motels.

This motel was in Miami, near Surfers Paradise in Queensland. Coles and McDonalds are within comfortable walking distance, but you'll need to take a bus or car to get to Surfers Paradise or the beach.

There are excellent Italian and Thai restaurants north, just past the high school, but you'll really need to drive there. South there was a small Chinese restaurant, but the food was woefully dry and tasteless - worse than fast Chinese.

The immediate area is surrounded by other motels and general suburbia. The motel is on the Gold Coast Highway itself and there is a bus stop a short walk away. There are no immediate attractions in the area - this area is purely accommodation and general dining.

There seems to be a relatively high police presence in the area, but this may be down to the fact that it was Schoolies week when I stayed there.
